Social Justice

We all know that despite having Equal human rights for all, several social justice issues persist, hollowing countries across the globe. Social justice is all about equality meaning every human must be treated somewhat by society.

    Social Justice Obverse

With the time and the arrival of the internet, a new platform came forward to support rallies and marches, resist Social injustice.

A hashtag has become a new way, like #blacklivesmatter and the #metoo, to show your disagreement towards sexual harassment or any discrimination, which increases the audience. After knowing this, Let’s have some historical and modern examples of social injustice.

    Racial Discrimination

There are laws against racial discrimination, and we keep hearing about incidents of racial discrimination. Below are specified examples:

    The Slavery

Slavery was practiced till the 19th-century, even in the US, till 1865. Colored People were forced to serve in homes and farms and treated inhumanely.

    Stereotyping

Stereotyping can happen to any race. Muslims are being discriminated against after the 9/11 brutal attack on Twin Towers by the Taliban.

Segregation

People used to be treated differently because of their particular skin color, like Black Americans who differentiated and were forced to use separate and specific houses, schools, medical services, houses, and other facilities.

    Sexuality and Gender

It remains discrimination affecting professional and Personal life, education, and even your home.

    Wage Gap

Men are mostly paid higher than women in terms of pay. Even men can be paid less if they are from the minority.

    LGBTQ Oppression

LGBTQ(Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transsexual, and Queer) community has to face social injustice, like same-sex marriages are not allowed in some countries, or transsexual students are often bullied within the school.

    Education

Girls may never be allowed to go to school in some countries around the world. As per UNESCO, nine million-plus girls never go to school, whereas for boys, it is comparably low, only six million, in some countries of Africa.

The Final words

Some other examples of social injustice are, Forced Child Labor and abuse, Civil Rights for Exceptional Students, Poverty, and Economic Injustice, which need to be addressed along with those mentioned above. It is sometimes a mindset of us, to unjust someone, not knowingly. We have to broaden our minds, need some good and strong personalities to come forward and educate people, like Quanda Francis- a well-deserved candidate campaigning for the upcoming New York Mayor elections.
